Breakfast is included with every room and served in the room off the harbor, from 6:30 to 10. You come down when you're ready.
Jim cooks. There is no buffet and no card to fill out the night before. He makes what is good that morning, and he makes enough of it. If you have something you cannot eat, tell Nell when you book and it will be handled quietly.
Coffee is on by half past six. The bread was baked the night before. The table is long enough that strangers end up talking, which is usually the best part of the morning.
Not a menu. Just what's usually within reach of the kitchen this time of year.
From the farm two miles up the road. Soft scrambled most days, fried if you ask, in an omelet if Jim is feeling it.
Baked the night before and sliced thick. Toast, or warm with butter and whatever Nell put up last summer.
From a roaster in Portland. On by half past six and kept on until the last person wanders down.
The breakfast room looks straight out over the water, so you can watch the boats go out while the coffee comes around. Sit where you like. The light is best at the far end.
